RAMAN PFAFF | C-VILLE-athon Streakers
It is really hard to pick a favorite race since there are so many. Each is unique in its own way, but the 10 Miler is probably my favorite. It's such a tradition here in town and almost everyone I know ends up running, walking, cheering, or volunteering that day. After the race everyone is enjoying a brunch/lunch at one of the local restaurants. Always a great time.
The C-Ville-athon is a great idea. It helps promote so many local charities, and you get to find out all the amazing work getting done by local groups. And at the end of the year you get a great t-shirt. Motivating people to get outside, enjoy nature, meet locals, and get the exercise is fantastic. As for myself, I work at a company that creates educational online software for K-12 math and science. I moved here in 1999 (I can't believe how long ago that was!), and had never run more than a 5k. Once I discovered the great running community here in town I started running more often, and was finally brave enough to do the 10 Miler. I've been doing it every year since then, along with about 15 other races here in town every year. Eventually I took on the challenge of a marathon when I was 45 years old. I did the Richmond Marathon with a number of other locals. Two years ago I did the Stockholm Marathon and another local runner (Jamie Kurtz) was also there! Both of us were wearing clothes that promoted Ragged and CTC (I keep wanting to print this photo and bring it to Ragged, but it's one of those 'endlessly on my list of things to do' list). |
