LAURA BROWN | C-VILLE-athon Streakers
I am so thrilled to be a streaker!!!!
I have too many favorite Cvilleathon races. They are all so uniquely special yet share the same jovial camaraderie among runners and spectators, and are expertly executed to ensure a fun, safe, enjoyable time for all. The 10 miler is always a welcomed favorite and each year I seem to recruit a few more friends (some even new to running!) to take part in the race. The 4th Year 5K is a very special race, promoting healthy behaviors and choices among our UVA friends. In 2009, I was the winning female 4th year of the 4th year 5k, and was recognized by then President Casteen on the football field at halftime. That was such a special accomplishment! I think there were about 200 runners in that race, and just last year there were close to 900 runners and walkers. The women's 4 miler is always a favorite of mine as well. This year I unfortunately missed it. Knowing I would be short on my Cvilleathon miles, I signed up for the Special Olympics 10k for the first time. I had always wanted to do that race but never got around to signing up, until I was eager for more miles to meet my Cvilleathon goal! I love that the Cvilleathon encourages us to support organizations doing vital work in our community that make for better lives for our neighbors. Running and walking is the greatest joy and I feel so lucky to do it while creating a stronger, more resilient community. |
