Jen Butt | 2018 C-VILLE-athon Finisher

I loved the PR for Public Radio 5K because it was the first year for the event, the course was awesome and I support Public Radio 100%.  I also finally ran a race at a sub 11-minute per mile pace.  I also really loved the Ramblin' Rabbit 5K because it was tons of fun to do a 5K with my great friend Esther and with my dogs (she was kind enough to run with one of them because two would have been a bit much for me to handle).

When I am not racing, I am clinical research professional at PRA Health Sciences.  I started racing because my friend Esther, mentioned above, got me to sign up for a Spartan Race in 2017.  I completed that race and haven't looked back!  I'm not fast and I don't ever expect to win, but the exercise is great for me and I really enjoy the people that I have met in the racing community, both Spartan Races (Obstacles Course Races) and road races.  I have been a Haven Volunteer for many years, so I feel a special connection to the Haven Race.  I was also both a volunteer and employee at The Shelter for Help and Emergency, so I feel a special connection to that race as well.  I look forward to both of those races every year.  This isn't entirely C-ville-a-thon related, though running helped to train me for my biggest accomplishment this year (other than finishing the 10-miler in under 2 hours).  I completed a Spartan Trifecta, which is a Sprint (3-5 miles), Super (8-10 miles) and Beast (13-15 miles) all in a calendar year!
