George Gillies | 2018 C-VILLE-athon Finisher
This is a photo of me from the Kelly Watt Memorial 2-miler in 2016. I love that race, and it is my favorite C-VILLE-athon one. It's a beautiful venue, a wonderful way to celebrate his life and, coming as it does just before Thanksgiving, it's really the start of the holiday season for me. When I ran it in 2016, I had registered very early and low and behold, ended up with bib no. 1 (although I was a long ways from finishing in first place!).
I would recommend the C-VILLE-athon to the whole running community here, because if you do the number of races required to reach the necessary mileage, you will almost certainly have had the chance to run in virtually every different part of the city, and thus visit places here you wouldn't ordinarily see. What a great way to enjoy our lovely town and region! I'm always busy too at the University, where I am a Research Professor in the School of Engineering and Applied Science. Most of my work is on the development of new clinical devices for use by neurosurgeons and cardiologists, and I just last week I learned that I was named a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors. |
